What has God entrusted you with? Are you a parent? A teacher? A wife? A husband? A daughter? A son? (Fill in the blanks to whoever you are reading this.) Life gets heavy. The weight can feel like a thousand pounds on your shoulders. But, God has placed you right here for a purpose. He heard you. He has helped you, but you aren’t finished yet. You have to choose to see that there is more for you and your family. There is more in what God has entrusted you with. He needs you to willingly open your hands and take in everything he has for you. It’s not always easy, it’s not suppose to be. It’s going to take sacrifice. It’s going to take a little pain. It’s going to take some time.

Saturday we had a 12 hour prayer chain at our church. As I prayed my hour, my thoughts went straight to Riverbend Kidz. So, I’m about to share the verses that I came across and hit me like a ton of bricks…because I fit into the above…I am a teacher; both in Children’s Ministry and in my career everyday. Read it below and soak it in for yourself:

1 Peter 5:2- “Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly- not grudgingly–not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God.

1 Peter 5:3- “Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example.

1 Peter 5:4- “And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.”

1 Peter 5:5- “In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

1 Peter 5:6- So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.”

1 Peter 5:7- “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

1 Peter 5:8- Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”

1 Peter 5:9- Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.”

1 Peter 5:10- “In his kindness God called you to share his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

  • Restore- Bring back, return. Confirm- establish the truth. Strengthen- make stronger. Establish- set up, permanent.

There is so much potential in you, parents. In you, children. In you, teachers. In you, moms. In you, dads. In you, Pastors. In you, Pastor’s wives. I’m talking to myself just as much as anybody else, don’t give up. He heard you. He has helped you. You are winning. Keep pushing in your potential. Living this life for God is more than worth it. Place God as number one in your life, your family’s lives, your kids lives.
